Wired for Success Through the Spirit

I am not an electrician but I do use electrical items on a daily basis and what I recognize is that even the best made electrical item has a weakness:

It contains delicate parts which can be destroyed or damaged under certain conditions.

Very often, if not always, those electrical items cannot function effectively or at all without those delicate parts. The manufacturer of the electrical item built it with the best materials and it was wired correctly for success but the item still had that weakness. The weakness was not the fault of the manufacturer. The weakness is a natural part of life on earth. The strongest tree can be uprooted. The strongest house can be destroyed. Everything in the world is vulnerable to something greater than itself.

The delicate parts of an electrical item are similar to the delicate parts of the human being. Those delicate parts are our heart and our soul (mind, will and emotions). The strongest person can suffer from a broken heart. The most intelligent person can lose their mind. Human beings can do extraordinary things. They can build extraordinary things. However, we all have a weakness:

We contain delicate parts which can be destroyed or damaged under certain conditions.

Our weakness was not the fault of our manufacturer. In the beginning:

God created the Heavens and the earth…And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was VERY GOOD…(Gen.1:31 KJV)

Everything that God made in the beginning was very good. However, mankind had some delicate parts which needed to be guarded on a continual basis. If these parts were not guarded then mankind would become subject to death. God told Adam:

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Gen.2:17 KJV)

God created Adam in His own image and after His own likeness. God crowned Adam with glory and honour (Psalm 8:5). However, there was a commandment (a rule or law) that Adam had to observe if he wanted to be free from death. We all know about instruction manuals. These manuals give us information about the product; how to assemble it and how to operate it but these manuals also inform us how to  of the product to ensure that it remains in good working order for as long as possible. Sometime we ignore the ‘warnings’ of the manufacturer and we treat that product in many different ways. Then one day we find that the product is not working or not working efficiently. In those times we cannot blame the manufacturer. The manufacturer wired that product for success and gave us the instructions on how to protect it but the user had different plans.

God wired human beings for success and warned them of the danger of making the wrong decision concerning the ‘forbidden fruit’. However, they still made the wrong decision because they were led by the wrong thing. We know we have weaknesses as human beings but God has made a way for us to overcome those weaknesses:

Being led by the Holy Spirit

Adam was led by Eve. Eve was deceived by the Serpent and led by her desire for the ‘forbidden fruit’. As a result we all became weak to sin but God has given us the victory through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus overcame sin by giving His life for the entire world on the cross. Because of His sacrifice all who believe in Jesus are able to receive the Holy Spirit and all who are led by the Holy Spirit will overcome their weaknesses:

For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. (Romans 8: NIV)

No Faith. No Victory!

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith (ESV).

It would be very difficult for anyone living in this world to deny that this world is filled with trouble. Many nations are troubled by wars, famines, diseases and natural disasters. Many people are troubled by fears, depression, loneliness, unhappiness. Every person born into this world are born into a world of trouble. Some face more trouble than others but at the end of day we all must face the worst of them all: Death

Day after day we try to overcome these troubles using human effort and wisdom but we seem to be losing the battle. Despite the great strides of human development since the 20th century we are still struggling with the evils in this world. In 2017 we are still fearful and unhappy. We spend and we consume. We try to reach for the peace we so long for. We try to reach for the happiness we so long for. We finally experience what we are looking for but in the end it is only temporary.

Some turn to yoga. Others turn to philosophy. Some even try religion but they still don’t obtain the victory they so desperately need. But the Holy Bible teaches that there is a way for human beings to overcome the world. In other words, there is a way for us to be victorious over fear, depression, unhappiness, loneliness and even death. There is a way for us to be victorious even in the face of war, famine, disease and natural disaster. That way is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle John said:

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God…For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith (1 John 5:1, 5 ESV)”

Those who BELIEVE that Jesus is the Christ have already overcome the world and its many troubles. We do not know what evil or trouble will occur on this earth tomorrow. We do not know what will happen in our lives tomorrow to cause fear or heartache. However, we can be sure of this: Those who BELIEVE that Jesus is the Christ are already victorious. Why? Because Jesus Christ gives us strength in the face of weakness. He gives us joy in the face of sadness. He gives us light in the face of dark times. He gives us hope in the face of uncertainty and He gives us life in the face of death. For those who believe in Jesus Christ there is nothing that can happen to us or around us that we cannot overcome. Look at the life of Jesus. He was betrayed, beaten, bruised and buried. But that was not the end of HiStory. On the third day He rose again just as He said He would.

Jesus believed that His Father (The Lord God) would raise him from the dead. He lived believing that and He died believing that. In the end He overcame death. His faith caused Him to be victorious. What trouble are you faced with today? What evil has surrounded your family or nation? If you are a Christian then your faith in Jesus will cause you to be victorious. If you are not a Christian then you have a decision to make. You can either follow the way of victory or continue walking the road of defeat.

The way of victory is to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The way of victory is to believe that Jesus died so your sins can be forgiven. The way of victory is to believe that God raised Him from the dead. The way of victory is to believe that through Jesus Christ you are born of God and that through God’s power and your faith in His power you can overcome anything that comes against you. A boxer needs to have many things to be able to overcome his/her opponent. A boxer can have the most stamina, skill, quick reflexes, etc. However, if that boxer does not believe he/she can win they will most likely lose the fight. Living in this world can get very complicated and confusing. However, the Holy Bible teaches us that it is simple:

No Faith. No Victory!
