The Father’s Love

Have you ever thought about the Father’s love for us? I hope all fathers had a wonderful Father’s Day. Father’s Day is the time to celebrate and appreciate fathers. I am grateful for a mother’s love but when fathers express their love for their children it is something very special to behold. The same is true about our Heavenly Father. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, an amazing thing happened:

After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. (Matthew 3:16 NLT)

The Heavenly Father expressed His love for His Son by opening the heavens and anointing His Son with His Spirit. It was similar to a father opening his treasure chest and giving his son the most valuable treasure that He had. However, God did not stop there. God ensured that there was no misunderstanding concerning what John the Baptist witnessed. God followed up His actions with a declaration:

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” (Matthew 3:17 NLT)

It was as though God was saying:

I have given My Son the best. I have given My Son of Myself. This is how much I love my Son. This is how much I am pleased with my Son.

When God fills us with His Holy Spirit, He is expressing His great love for us through His Son Jesus Christ. When God speaks about us in His Word He is declaring His great love for us:

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)

Let us always remember the Father’s love for us!

Day 26: God is Thinking About You

God is thinking about you! In fact, God is thinking about you every day. God was thinking about you from the foundation of this world. God was thinking about you before you appeared in your mother’s belly. We think about those we are in love with every day. Sometimes we think about them every minute. Sometimes we think about them even while we are sleeping.

GOD IS IN LOVE WITH YOU

God is thinking about your physical health:

He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I AM THE LORD WHO HEALS YOU.” (Exodus 15:26 NLT)

HE SENT OUT HIS WORD AND HEALED THEM, snatching them from the door of death. (Psalm 107:20 NLT)

God is thinking about your mental health:

The God of peace (The God Who gives peace of mind) will soon crush Satan under your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. (Romans 16:20 NLT)

God is thinking about your future:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, THOUGHTS OF PEACE, AND NOT OF EVIL, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV)

The New Living Translation states:

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, TO GIVE YOU A FUTURE AND A HOPE. (Jeremiah 29:11)

God loves you so much. You are His child. God said this about His Son Jesus Christ:

But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.” (Matthew 17:5 NLT)

God wants the best His children. God is always thinking about His children.

  • You may be trapped in between the Red Sea and the Egyptian Army but God is thinking about you. He wants to open the Red Sea so you can escape from your enemies.
  • You may be in the wilderness but He is thinking about you. God wants to lead you into the Promised Land.
  • You may be in a boat during a storm but He is thinking about you. He wants to calm the storm and bring you safely to shore.

In those moments of hopelessness and despair remember that ‘God is thinking about you’.

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.  God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.  So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. (Ephesians 1:4-6 NLT)

Day 9: Motivated by Love

February is the month of love. On the 14th of February many people in the world celebrate love. Chocolates, roses and other gifts are given to those who are loved. Many take their loved ones out to dinner or to some special place. Valentine’s Day is the day where many take the time out to show their love to those who are special to them. Usually, couples are not thinking about the difficulties or the problems in their relationship. Valentine’s Day causes persons to ‘forget’ the problems and obstacles and focus on expressing love to others. However, what happens when Valentine’s Day is over? What happens when the month of February comes to an end? This is what happens:

WE STOP FOCUSING ON LOVE

When the day is over, some of us no longer express our love with the intensity we had on Valentine’s Day (I am talking from experience). When the day is over, the focus on love seems to fade away. It is similar to Christmas. When the season is over all of the excitement, joy and happiness goes with it. There is nothing wrong with a special day or a special season coming to an end. It is said that all good things must come to an end. However, there is, in my opinion, something wrong when love, joy, and peace comes to end in our lives. Love is a powerful force that has the ability to motivate us to overcome every difficulty we experience in our relationships with others. As human beings, we cannot afford to have love come to an end in our lives:

When we lose our focus on love we LOSE!

When we lose our focus on love we lose the battle. We cannot be victorious in this life if we do not have love in our hearts. This is even more serious in the life of a believer in Jesus Christ. The Bible records that love motivated God the Father to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to the earth to give eternal life to all believers in Christ. Jesus said:

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 New Living Translation)

The Bible also records that love motivated Jesus to sacrifice Himself for the world:

I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me, but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father… (John 14:30-31 New Living Translation)

God the Father was motivated by love. Jesus the Son was motivated by love. All believers in Jesus, the children of God, must be motivated by love also. Love is so powerful that when it is operation, there is no problem, no obstacle, no difficulty that can stop it. Love causes us to overcome in our relationships with others. Love causes families to overcome difficulties. Love causes married couples to overcome problems. Love causes the Church to overcome the world:

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. (John 13:35 New Living Translation)

MAY YOUR DAY BE FULL OF LOVE!
